Division and Ceremony
In 1967, Mother Suzanne Guillemin suggested a division of the two American provinces based in Emmitsburg, MD and Normandy, MO. In September of that year, the two provincial councils began discussing what plan to undertake. From the sisters' surveys, the councils jointly decided a separation into five provinces would be most beneficial, with a balanced division of works and equal distribution of sisters. On January 4, 1969, Mother Chiron arrived in Emmitsburg for a ceremony to bring the five provinces into existence.
