BEATIFICATION OF FATHER DAMIEN

Over 120 years ago a Belgian priest, Father Damien, decided to devote his life to the people of Molokai Island, a leprosy colony in Hawaii. This year, in recognition of his sacrifice and the inspiration he gave to thousands, Father Damien will be beatified by the Roman Catholic Church.
Damien Foundation invites you to a weekend of activities to celebrate this event and welcomes all ILEP Members, Associations and supporters to Brussels from 13th to 15th May.
On Friday 13th there will be a visit to the house where Father Damien was born. That evening, in the little town of Tremelo, visitors are invited to participate in a pageant portraying the life and work of this holy man. Over 12,000 people are expected at this event.
On Saturday you might like to spend the day visiting Louvain or Brussels. On Sunday in the city's largest venue, the Osseghem Park, Heysel, there will be a celebration of eucharistic, during the service the Pope will beatify Father Damien.
Damien Foundation, Oeuvres Missionaires workers and the people of Molokai, Hawaii are arranging a multi-cultural event of celebration and information to take place in the Park after the service.
All those wishing to attend this weekend of celebration are reminded that DFB is not responsible for any of the events at which the Pope will be present and can only forward member-Associations requests for tickets to the organisers. They are happy, however, to assist in the finding of accommodation in hotels or convents in the Brussels area. Those with less time available are invited to join DFB on Sunday in the park. All requests should be addressed to:
